This Saturday, the news was known that one of the referents of América de Cali in the past as a player and until today in charge of the minor divisions of the scarlet team, Jersson González, left the team after 6 years and two months of work, to face new challenges.
This was the message he posted on his social networks: “It was 6 years and 2 months of happiness feeling at home. As in any family there are discords, joys and sorrows; however, the passion and love for my work always accompanied me. Today I say goodbye to my institution. I am sad to leave this club that I love so much; but with the conviction and happiness of opening new professional paths in what I love so much: FOOTBALL. I only have words of gratitude for those who allowed me to return to this club and grow not only as a professional but as a person. Many thanks to the Gómez Family, especially to Marcela Gómez for her trust and support. American Family I carry you in my heart.
This was also announced by the club through a statement: “América de Cali informs its fans, the media and the general public that Jersson González, a benchmark for the institution and who served as technical director of our U-20 category, presented his letter voluntary resignation to face a new sports project. We appreciate his professionalism and dedication during all the years of service in América de Cali and we wish him every success in his professional career.”
Jersson during his time leading the U-20 team, had the opportunity to lead the professional team on several occasions, when the technical directors in property were dismissed from their activities and he took command until the arrival of the new coach, those cases were when came out: Pedro Felício Santos in 2018, Fernando Castro in 2019 and Juan Cruz Real in 2021. In addition, great figures who today play in the professional team and in international football passed through his process.
