In Argentina there are several options to access air tickets without spending money or spending below the rate when you want to make a trip. The vast majority of the world’s airlines have loyalty programs that reward travelers with miles every time they take a plane, which can be exchanged later for new tickets or part of them.

But this is not all, there are also companies, such as fintechs or banks, that have their own award programs for their customers and users, which also grant miles to be redeemed at airlines.

Such is the case of Wowthe company founded by Pierpaolo Barbieriwhich announced at the end of 2021 that with its Ualá+ program, users of its App would add points that could then be exchanged for AAdvantage mileage packages, the American Airlines mileage system.

More ways to earn miles

Aerolineas Argentinas has a miles program called Airlines Plus what rewards passengers for flying with the company or with any company in the SkyTeam alliance -Delta, Air France, Aeroméxico, KLM Air Europa, ITA Airways, among others- giving them miles that can be redeemed for more flights from any company in the group.

The monthly fees of the Smiles Club -being a membership in pesos- do not charge the 65% surcharge paid by the “tourist dollar”, but this is included in the number of miles needed to exchange for an international flight.

In addition, it is also possible to accumulate miles when making expenses with credit cards issued by its associated banks, among them are Banco Santander, Banco Galicia, AMEX, Banco Patagonia, Banco Comafi and Banco Municipal de Rosario.

Another mileage club that can be found in the country is the one offered by Latam, in its Latam Club Pass There are two types of memberships: Basic -which offers 1,000 monthly miles plus a 5% discount on exchanging miles for tickets, a 15% discount on the direct purchase of miles and exclusive offers for $18-, and the Cousin -which offers 3,000 monthly miles plus a 10% discount on exchanging miles for tickets, a 20% discount on the purchase of miles and exclusive offers for $50. Although this Club has fewer membership options than Smiles, it has another method called “booster” that allows the traveler to improve the contracted plan whenever he wishes.

Latam is associated with companies such as British Airways, Lufthansa, Iberia, Swiss Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and more airlines in which the members of the cliub can use their miles to travel. They are valid for 3 years and can also be accumulated by making purchases at associated companies.
