Cuáles son los mejores destinos para viajar dentro de Colombia en vista del dólar alto

During the last few weeks, the dollar has behaved on the rise and has surpassed all-time highs. With a price of $4,395.68, many are reconsidering plans to visit countries with foreign currency and have chosen to travel to domestic destinations.

Herman Dávila, professor at the Faculty of Business, Management and Sustainability of the Grancolombiano Polytechnic, explained that “the US currency is not only rising in the country, but in a good part of the emerging economies. In the Colombian case, the value impacts the inflationary outlook, which is also on the rise.”

This scenario has also hit companies in the travel industry. For example, Latam assured that from January to May of this year, the costs of airlines increased 21%, compared to the same period of 2019. For its part, the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism (Anato) assured that the prices of tickets increased 23%.

Options of national tourist destinations

Bucaramanga, Pereira, Medellín, Cali and Cúcuta are some of the cities that stand out the most for national trips. According to the Kayak platform, a ticket from Bogotá to Bucaramanga, round trip, is worth an average of $304,000. Instead, the journey to Pereira has an estimated cost of $305,938.

If the trip is to return from the capital to Medellín, the tickets have an average cost of $246,066, according to figures from Kayak, which also reports that a trip to Cali costs about $208,000 and to Cúcuta costs approximately $366,073.

The platform, additionally, suggests traveling in September, when the rates present discounts of between 20% and 30%, due to the end of the high season.

Domestic travel growth

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana, assured that this year 3.1 million foreigners are expected, which means 49.9% more than in 2021. Also, within the projections, 13.5 million are expected of internal passengers, 36% above 2021.
