Los mejores hoteles 5 estrellas de Barcelona

Los mejores hoteles 5 estrellas de Barcelona

Barcelona is the most visited city in Spain in recent years. And, in fact, one of the most visited in the world. And no one is surprised: it is wonderful. There is a Barcelona for all travelers, whatever their hobbies or passions. Its modernist architecture, history, its charming neighborhoods, beaches, how well it eats…

Any excuse is a good one to escape to Barcelona. And of course, if you can and want to experience the city in a luxurious way, give yourself a tribute, we recommend the 5 best 5-star hotels that we have found. From the upper area, passing through the Gracia neighborhood and Las Ramblas, we offer you a route and a stay with the best value for money:

El Mirlo Boutique Hotel

We start this tour in the upper part of Barcelona. The least touristy. The calmest. We are not located almost on the slopes of the Tibidabo mountain. It is an excellent option for those looking to be close to the center -10 minutes by metro- but without the hustle and bustle of the heart of the city, without so many traffic jams and where you can breathe a little more oxygenated air.

Obviously, there are not many options to stay in this part of Barcelona. Or there are so many. One of them, not very well known, is this formidable mansion built in 1918 on Tibidabo Avenue. It is very exclusive. There are only 16 rooms, some of them also have their own garden or terrace. As a curiosity, to say that it was renamed in the famous novel “The Shadow of the Wind” with the name of Palacete Aldaya, where the protagonist solves the enigma that ends the plot.

What do travelers think? The ratings of this hotel, as a general rule, are very high. There are not many yet, but they are all very positive. On Booking.com they give it a score of 9.3 out of 10 and on Google a 4.9 out of 5 (almost perfect). Many of the comments highlight the service of the hotel restaurant, El Nido del Mirlo, run by chef Ismael Alonso.

House Fuster Barcelona

in the Gracia neighborhood

Fuster House

If we descend towards the sea, we will cross several interesting neighborhoods of Barcelona. One of them is Grace. It is authentic. It is ideal for strolling through its little streets, squares, markets… it is one of the most vital neighborhoods in the city. In addition, let’s not forget that it houses places of great interest such as Gaudí’s Park Güell and there they celebrate one of the liveliest festivals in Barcelona in mid-August: the Gracia festival, where the streets are decorated, there are music concerts and a lot of fun.

Strategically located in the neighborhoods of Gracia, San Gervasi and the Eixample, Casa Fuster is an excellent option for those who love the modernist style. In that sense, it is a work of art. This is a “Grand Luxury Monument” category establishment and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The interior is wonderful. Precious. The rooms are very bright and decorated with exquisite taste. Every Thursday, by the way, exclusive jazz concerts are presented. In fact, this is the place chosen by Woody Allen to perform his concerts in Barcelona.

What do travelers think? In general, it is very well valued by users. They give it a 4.5 out of 5 on Google (with more than 2,000 reviews) and an 8.9 out of 10 on Booking.com, where they give it a very high score for the comfort of its beds.

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona

In the Paseo de Gracia

We continue down the streets of Barcelona. We cross the Diagonal and head down one of the most emblematic streets, Paseo de Gracia. It is one of the most expensive avenues in Spain. Pure luxury. Along its 1,300 meters in length, you can see some of the most beautiful modernist buildings in the city: La Pedrera or Casa Batlló, Casa Amatller or Casa Lleó Morera.

The Mandarin Oriental is located precisely at number 38 Paseo de Gracia, opposite Casa Batlló (some of the 120 rooms and suites have views of this extraordinary facade designed by Gaudi). The interior decoration is created by Patricia Urquiola. There’s a rooftop pool, a luxury spa, with a hot tub, hammam and indoor pool, and the hotel’s 2-Michelin-star restaurant, Moments, is served by one of the world’s most awarded chefs, Carme Ruscalleda.

What do travelers think? It is a hotel with many awards by travelers in recent years. The reviews are very good. 4.6 out of 5 on Google, 8.9 out of 10 on Booking.com. Almost all agree on the great Spa that it has.

Hotel Kimpton Vividora Barcelona

4

In the historical center

Kimpton Liver

From the splendor of Paseo de Gracia and Eixample, we pass from Plaza de Catalunya to the effervescence of the Gothic quarter, in the heart of the Catalan capital. Closer to the beach. In the historic center you will find a wide range of hotels. Everything happens there. Walking through its narrow streets, seeing shops, museums, restaurants, people of all kinds, it is a pleasure to walk through this neighborhood that is so genuinely Barcelona.

Between Las Ramblas and La Catedral, we find the Kimpton Vividora hotel, perhaps the least known and with a more affordable price on this list. The rooftop terrace offers magnificent views of the city along with a swimming pool, hammocks, cocktails and portions to share. The Fauna restaurant, supervised by chef Ferrán López, has a vibrant atmosphere and serves local food: Its motto is: “Eat like a true Barcelonan”.

What do travelers think? Examining the comments on the various hotel platforms, we see how the vast majority of users agree that the service and views from the rooftop are spectacular. On Booking.com they give it an 8.9 out of 10 and on Google a 4.6 out of 5.

Serras Hotel Barcelona

And finally we reach the sea. There are several famous 5-star hotels facing the sea: the Arts Hotel and the Vela Hotel are two well-known ones. However, on this occasion, we would like to recommend Hotel Serras. Although it is not so well known and it is not so close to the sea, it is wonderful. In fact, it is one of the hotels with the best reviews in the city. Surprisingly it seems to be at the top of all luxury hotel rankings. The Hotel Serras is a 19th century building where Pablo Picasso, at the age of 15, had his first studio in 1896.

The 28 rooms are comfortable as well as elegant. The balconies have views of the old town, Port Vell and the Mediterranean Sea. One of the very positive aspects is that the hotel provides luxury services, such as airport pick-up, limousine transfer, concierge or valet parking. In addition, it has an infinity pool. We must not forget its gastronomic offer: the kitchen of the Informal restaurant under the command of the Catalan chef Marc Gascons, holder of a Michelin star.

What do travelers think? As we said, this establishment has a very good reputation: winner of the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List in 2019 as the Best Urban Hotel in Spain and also winner of TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice in 2018 as the Best Luxury Hotel in Spain. On Booking.com they rate it 9.6 out of 10 and on Google 4.6 out of 5.
