According to data from the Argentine Tourism Observatory (OAT), which acts under the purview of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT), occupancy and booking levels for winter holidays show up 15% on average compared to pre-pandemic. These levels are also expected to rise 10 points in the coming days thanks to last-minute bookings.

In regards to the Province of Buenos Aires and the Autonomous Cityfrom this monday reserve levels are almost full and tourist entities expect a season with great activity in the Buenos Aires metropolis.

According to information shared by the OAT, 350 thousand Argentine tourists will travel around the national territory with the credit benefit of Previaje 2that they bought during 2021 and that they can use throughout this year. “We designed an ambitious plan for winter, with strategies to promote our wonderful destinations and the recovery of connectivity led by Aerolineas Argentinas”highlighted Matthias LammensMinister of Tourism and Sports.

The flag carrier revealed days ago that over the next two weeks it will transport nearly 600,000 Argentines, “with more than 250 daily departures, an average of 38,000 passengers transported each day and full occupancy in the main vacation destinations.”

“The figures that reach us from the provinces confirm our expectations for this season. The high levels of reservations throughout the country project a record winter, with an enormously intense internal tourist movement and the arrival of more than a million tourists from abroad,” added Lammens, referring to the levels shared by the OAT, which indicate that provinces such as Salta, Mendoza, Catamarca and Misiones lead the occupancy averages provincial, while destinations such as Bariloche, Iguazú, Ushuaia, Carlos Paz, Quebrada de Humahuaca, Mendoza City, Termas de Río Hondo and Tandil are almost fully occupied.

“This winter season is going to confirm not only the recovery, but also the firm growth of the tourism sector after a summer, Easter and several absolutely record long weekends,” the minister assured and concluded.

On the other hand, Gustavo HanniCAT president, said that from the sector they have “great expectations for the winter holidays. The first surveys carried out by our Tourist Observatory speak of a occupancy that will be in the order of 90% in traditional winter destinations and we believe that the tourist movement in non-traditional destinations will also surprise for the winter season.
